July 19th – My Favourite Place In The World!

Advertisements

Hi all!

Welcome to Day 19 of my 31 Day Blogging Challenge in July 2016! Today, I am going to share my favourite place. If you have followed my blog from the start, this will really be of no surprise to you. My favourite place in the whole, wide world is:

New Orleans!

Jackson’s Square – French Quarter

As I’ve mentioned previously, New Orleans became my number one travel destination ever since I discovered my favourite author Anne Rice when I was 18 years old. The majority of her books are set in this enchanting city, where she grew up. I became so captivated by the rich detail of Louisiana, that I knew one day, I would have to go and see it for myself!

In October 2014, Francis and I set off to the United States for a month, spending the final week in New Orleans. It more than met my expectations and I had the time of my life. As I can’t help myself, I need to remind you all once again that I met Anne Rice on Halloween Eve, in the church she was baptised in. Our week was spent exploring graveyards, going on ghost tours, plantation tours, swamp tours, voodoo tours, cruising down the Mississippi River, admiring the mansions in the Garden District & eating delicious vegan food. New Orleans really is the home of the occult. Walking down Bourbon Street & the French Quarter, you will find endless voodoo & vampiric shops. The houses are spookily decorated for the entire month of October and there is even a Halloween Parade, which we got to see. I’m just going to share some of my favourite photos. Everybody should experience the mystical city that is N’Orleans!

Beautiful green lawn & trees!

Thanks to the kind caretaker, we were allowed to explore outside this mansion in the Garden District!

The pool in their backyard!

A celebrity mansion.

Bourbon Street on Halloween!

Suburban houses spookily decorated!

The swamps of Louisiana, filled with gators!

Cute Raccoon!

Sailing on the Steamboat Natchez, down the Mississippi

Relaxing in the Southern sun!

The French Quarter!

I cried standing out the front of her house!

This is Nicholas’s Cage’s tomb. He has already bought one in advance. There are kiss marks all over it and the Latin inscription reads ‘all for one.’

If you watched American Horror Story season 3, this is the house the witches lived in!

Iconic Streetcars!

I hope you enjoyed today’s blog post. I sincerely hope to return to New Orleans someday. I’m sure I will! Where is your favourite place in the world? Why is it your favourite?

See you tomorrow! Peace & Love xoxo
