Hi all!
Welcome to Day 20 of the 30 Day Disney Blogging Challenge!
Today I will be discussing a Disney scene that makes me angry. Not all Disney villains are likeable, especially the one I’m about to mention. This character is cruel, callous, selfish, bitter and downright mean. In this moment, we witness just how horrible a person can be and what lengths they will go to, to keep others from true happiness. I am talking about:
LADY TREMAINE LOCKING CINDERELLA IN HER ROOM!

We all know the story of Cinderella. Cinderella’s father died when she was very young. This led to her evil stepmother (Lady Tremaine) and two step-sisters (Anastasia & Drizella) to take over the estate, forcing Cinderella to be their slave. Despite their cruel treatment, Cinderella maintains a very positive disposition, befriending the house animals and singing as she cleans. Lady Tremaine, in particular, despises Cinderella. clearly jealous of her gentle, kind nature and beauty. She is determined to expand her status as a socialite, by marrying both of her daughters off to men with noble blood. Her black cat, Lucifer (who is aptly named) is just as evil, constantly terrorising the poor mice. They are a match made in heaven.
When word spreads that there is to be a Royal Ball for the Prince to choose his Princess, Lady Tremaine is rapt with power and ambition. She is angry that Cinderella asks to join them, but as the invitation dictates ‘every lady in the kingdom is invited.’ She agrees but on one condition: Cinderella must finish all her chores and find a dress for herself. Basically, she sets her up to fail, then proceeds to heap chore after chore on our poor protagonist. As we all know, the wicked step-sisters end up ruining Cinderella’s dress, leaving her devastated as they make their way to the ball. Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother arrives and…
BIBBITY BOBBITY BOO!
Cinderella arrives at the ball, a vision of perfection. The Prince is instantly enamoured by her. They dance to So This is Love and Lady Tremaine, along with both her daughters, stare at them in envy. They have no idea it is actually Cinderella. As the clock strikes midnight, Cinderella escapes but leaves her glass slipper behind. The Prince picks it up.
News arrives that the Prince will be visiting every home in the kingdom, to see whose foot will fit the glass slipper. Whomever it belongs to, will become his bride. Upon hearing of this, Cinderella falls into a daydream, singing So This is Love and twirling as she did at the Royal Ball. In that moment, Lady Tremaine realises who the mystery girl was and follows Cinderella up to her room, locking her in and pocketing the key. She wants to ensure that Cinderella does not try on the glass slipper. This scene makes me so angry because it is the epitome of cruelty. Lady Tremaine has treated her appallingly since the day her father died, fighting against her happiness/freedom until the very end. An evil smirk falls across her face she walks away from her step-daughter’s cries. Luckily, with the help of her animal friends, Cinderella escapes and tries on the glass slipper. She marries her Prince and they live happily ever after…
Grrrr! It makes my blood boil every single time! Which Disney moment makes you truly angry? Why?
