Hi all!
I am back today with another book tag. It is currently autumn (or fall, depending where you are from) in the Southern Hemisphere, making it the perfect time of year to curl up with a hot drink and a good book. ‘Tis the season to walk through crunching leaves, sip tea and marvel at the beautiful colours of nature. I sourced these questions from skye_wolverine7 . Without further ado, let’s get into it!
CRUNCHING LEAVES
The world is full of colour! Choose a book that has red, yellow and orange on the cover.
For this question, I had to go with my stunning copy of The Wrath and the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh. It is pure perfection. This captivating duology is inspired by A Thousand and One Arabian Nights. Khalid, the Caliph of Khorasan, takes a new bride every night, only to have her executed at sunrise. One day, protagonist and heroine, Shahrzad, volunteers to marry Khalid, so she can outwit him and avenge his murders. Will she survive to see the morning, breaking the cycle once and for all? I cannot wait to find out!
COSY SWEATER
It’s finally cold enough to wear warm, cosy clothing. What book gives you the warm fuzzies?
I know it’s the obvious choice but I’m going to have to say Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling. I get the warm fuzzies just starting this beloved series from scratch. It also makes me think of Christmas and how happy Harry is when he gets presents for the first time. If that doesn’t melt your heart, nothing will!
AUTUMN STORM
The wind is howling and the rain is pounding. Choose your favourite book or genre to read on a stormy day.
On a stormy day, I love to dive into the genre of gothic literature. I realised most of my favorite classics fall under this category. For example, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice. I love a story with a hint of creepy. It suits the miserable weather perfectly.
COOL, CRISP AIR
What cool character would you want to trade places with?
This was so tough to answer. I would trade places with many characters if given the opportunity. However, I settled on Bailey Clarke from The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, because who wouldn’t want to experience everything that magical place has to offer? One evening, after years of longing, Bailey is invited to attend the mystical, ever-moving carnival. I so badly wanted to explore all the enchanted tents and eat the deliciously described food.
HOT APPLE CIDER
What is an under-hyped book that you want to see be the next hottest, biggest thing in the world?
I feel like Nevernight by Jay Kristoff is seriously under-hyped. More people need to read this phenomenal series! I’ve talked about this book many times now, but I’m not sorry because I want everybody to know how amazing it is. In this fantastic and compelling trilogy, we follow Mia Corvere, a girl who witnesses her father hung for treason. As a teenager, she decides to join the Red Church, a school for assassins. Her end goal is to ultimately avenge his death. The third and final book in the trilogy, Darkdawn, is set for release later this year.
COATS, SCARVES, MITTENS
The weather has turned cold and it’s time to cover up. What’s the most amazing book cover you own, that you would want to keep hidden from the public?
I don’t know that I would want to hide this book from the public but how amazing is the cover? It’s even more stunning in real life. Valentine by Jodi McAlister is a young adult, fantasy series that follows four teenagers all born on Valentine’s Day. When they start to disappear, Pearl Linford has to work out what’s happening, before she does too. I have not read this book yet but I know it involves fairies and a spine-tingling romance, which has me very intrigued. Also, the sequel Ironheart, was just released and believe it or not, that cover is even more jaw-dropping.
PUMPKIN SPICE
What is your favourite food in the autumn time?
I love hearty vegetable soups and spicy curries. I also cannot get enough of golden lattes. I make them with cashew milk, maple syrup, turmeric and cinnamon. They are so delicious and warming.
WARM, COSY BONFIRE
Spread the warmth! Who are you going to tag?
Anyone and everyone! You’ve all been tagged!
I hope you enjoyed this post. May your autumn/fall season be super cosy.
Peace & Love xoxo
