Hi all!
Today I am back to rank and discuss all the movies I watched during Found Footage February! If you would like to learn more about this event, please click here. I watched five films in total. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
1.) The Tunnel
The Tunnel was the best found-footage movie I watched in February. I always say this but if an Australian horror film is good, I tend to give it extra points, as I’m not typically impressed with media from my own country. I felt the pacing was perfect and the scares, well thought out. It kept my attention from start to finish. Highly underrated.
2.) Blair Witch
Unpopular opinion – I prefer Blair Witch over The Blair Witch Project. My issue with the original, is it’s a whole lot of nothing until the very end. Blair Witch was action-packed all the way through. It maintained an even level of scares and engagement. I was really surprised. The kills were fun and unique.
3.) Butterfly Kisses
Butterfly Kisses had such a fun concept. Once you understand what the film is about, you realise how perfect the title is. I also liked how meta it was. It was found-footage of found-footage. Let that sink in. My favourite parts revolved around the entity and how it continued to appear in different stills. Knowing it comes closer every time you blink is downright terrifying. Brava!
4.) Troll Hunter
In fourth place, we have Troll Hunter. I really want to applaud the special effects. That was the best part of the film. The enormity of the creatures had me gasping. They couldn’t even fit in the frames of the screen. What a fantastic idea for a found-footage movie. It dragged in parts but the visuals more than made up for it.
5.) Noroi: The Curse
Unfortunately, the movie I thought would be my favourite, ended up being my least. Noroi: The Curse was a convoluted mess. It was too all over the place for my liking. I wish it had been more streamlined. The lore and demonic entity were fun but that was about it. It was a slog to get through.
Thank you so much for reading! What is your favourite out of the films mentioned?
Peace & Love xoxo
