Hi all!

Today I am reviewing new-release, horror: The Front Room. Everything goes to hell for newly pregnant Belinda (Brandy), after her mother-in-law moves in. As the diabolical guest tries to get her claws on the child, Belinda must draw the line somewhere. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

WHAT WORKED:

The Front Room was so entertaining. It reminded me of several different horror films. I saw elements of Mother! mixed with Rosemary’s Baby and Dolores Claiborne. Furthermore, the acting from Solange (Kathryn Hunter), was exceptional. She was outrageously racist, vile, offensive and entitled. The ending had a very satisfying payoff. I felt so bad for Belinda, having to suffer through all that. Be warned, this movie is less horrific and more anxiety inducing. It will test you. 

WHAT DIDN’T WORK:

If I had to use one word to describe this movie, it would be GROSS! Make sure you have a strong stomach. It even tested someone like me, who has seen everything a horror film can offer. My biggest gripe with The Front Room was the wimpy husband. I would’ve kicked him out immediately if I was expected to take care of his awful stepmother, whilst 9 months pregnant! Instant divorce! I also felt a lot of it was unrealistic. Nobody would do what Brandy did. Not even the nicest person on Earth! 

OVERALL STAR RATING: 

I gave it 3.5/5 stars. It wasn’t perfect but I was highly entertained!
