Sissy – Shudder Movie Review!

Hi all!

Today I am reviewing Australian horror: Sissy. I really want to make better use of my Shudder subscription. The story follows high school best friends, who run into each other after a decade. Hoping to reconnect, Emma invites Cecilia to her hen’s weekend away. Stuck in a remote cabin with her high school bully, Cecilia quickly develops a taste for revenge. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

WHAT WORKED:

I am so happy this horror movie was filmed in Australia. It was truly excellent. I wasn’t expecting it to go in the direction it did, but I’m so glad it went there. As somebody who was bullied in school, I received some second-hand satisfaction, watching certain people get their just desserts. I also loved how gory it was. They did not hold back with the carnage. It perfectly depicted how a person can snap, blinding them with rage and clouding the actions that follow. The film also kept it modern – introducing the online influencer trope and how what we see on a screen, isn’t always a reality.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK:

My biggest gripe was the acting. It was very cheesy and felt scripted in parts. I also thought the score didn’t suit certain scenes.

OVERALL STAR RATING:

I gave it 4/5 stars. I highly recommend this gory, revenge-fueled flick!

Thank you so much for reading! Have you seen Sissy?

Peace & Love xoxo
