‘Disrupt The Peace’ – My Poetry Album

Hi all!

I’m thrilled to announce that my second poetry collection – Disrupt the Peace – is now available for purchase on Amazon! Pick up a copy here. My first poetry collection is titled: New Normal. These poems are written in the form of song tracks. They have verses, choruses, bridges, plus an intentional album opener and closer. You could easily set them to music.

This entire poetry collection explores the breakdown of a friendship. Often we feel that romantic heartbreak is the most painful thing a person can endure, but losing a friend can hurt just as much, if not more. You feel the loss just as intensely as you would by a lover leaving. From the first to the final track, I break down how it started and just how badly it ended. There are themes of betrayal, devastation, mistrust, grief and acceptance. What’s important to note is my peace was disrupted, not disturbed. It was temporary, because ultimately, I chose not to dwell on it.
Today I am going to share two of my favourite pieces from the collection. Read on for a teaser!

Track 3 – Hurt People, Hurt Me

Verse 1

When will it end?

I’m familiar with rejection.

Because when they can’t cope, I cop their projection.

And I did nothing but simply exist.

But the mirror I held up made them clench a fist.

Chorus

If there is one thing I know for sure, it’s hurt people, hurt me.

Why put this on me, when you need therapy?

I’m not built to carry all this weight.

Could you please redirect the loathing and self-hate?

Verse 2

When will I learn?

No one likes the nice.

Because all my virtues came with a price.

And I did nothing but simply exist.

But their insecurities persist and persist.

Repeat Chorus

Bridge

I’m tired of being tormented.

Wondering if I am in the wrong.

Should I be more vicious?

Would that help me along?

Gaslight me into thinking.

My sensitivity needs killing.

I know nothing but this fragile heart of mine.

Hurt people, hurt me.

It happens all the time.

Repeat Chorus

Outro

Hurt people, hurt me.

It happens all the time…

Track 7 – A Complete 180

Verse 1

If I don’t laugh, then I will cry.

The shortest life to wilt and die.

If I knew then, what I know now.

I would’ve run far from this town.

There is a lesson to be learned.

You’ll give blind trust and then get burned.

I compare our past and our today.

We couldn’t be more far away.

 Chorus

You’ll mock these stories.

You won’t see what I see.

That I loved you like a sister.

But now – my heart has done a complete 180.

Verse 2

If I don’t whisper, then I will shout.

The smallest flame has flickered out.

If I knew then, what I know now.

I would’ve steered clear of this town.

There is a lesson for us all.

You’ll take the blame and then the fall.

I compare our past and our today.

We have nothing left to say.

Repeat Chorus

Bridge

You don’t care.

You don’t care anymore.

I have to ask. This friendship?

What was all of it for?

I applied logic to a shapeless formation.

There is no longevity if there is no foundation.

Repeat Verse 1

Repeat Chorus

Fade To Close

Thank you so much for reading! I appreciate your support as always.

Peace & Love xoxo
