Hi all!
Today I am reviewing new-release, horror: Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. It hit cinemas this month, allowing me the opportunity of seeing it on the big screen. One year has passed since the supernatural nightmare at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Former security guard, Mike, has kept the truth from his sister, concerning the fate of her animatronic friends. When she sneaks out to reconnect with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy, she sets into motion a terrifying series of events. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
WHAT WORKED:
I’ll be honest, I did not enjoy the first movie. I found it to be devoid of scares and very lacklustre. I expected a lot more horror than there was. To my great surprise, the sequel delivered everything I wanted and more. It was creepy, colourful, interesting and expansive. The lore was explored further, the story was much tighter, the pacing worked well and it provided plenty of fan-service. It was also great to see Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, Elizabeth Lail and Piper Rubio reprise their roles. We even got a cameo from Skeet Ulrich. Overall, I was impressed!
WHAT DIDN’T WORK:
There were definitely some convenient contrivances to move the plot along. You have to suspend your disbelief with these types of films. I would also caution that casual viewers might not enjoy the movie, due to the overabundance of fan service. Unless you’re familiar with this franchise and its characters, you’re likely to be confused. Even I struggled to comprehend what was happening at times. Furthermore, they rushed the ending, which is left on a cliffhanger. Never fear, a third movie is absolutely in the works.
OVERALL STAR RATING:
I gave it 4/5 stars. A vast improvement from the first film!
Have you seen Five Nights At Freddy’s 2? What did you think of it?
Peace & Love xoxo
