Hi all!
Every single year, I participate in Found Footage February. You can find my past posts here. In 2025, I decided to review/rank The Creep Tapes: Season 1 (click here). In 2026, I tackled season 2. This series follows a serial killer (Mark Duplass), who recruits videographers to film him. It is a continuation of the Creep film duology; exploring the killer’s collection of videotapes. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
This post is in partnership with JustWatch. Spoilers ahead!
A BRUTALLY HONEST REVIEW
In last year’s post, I wrote that The Creep Tapes didn’t really add anything new to the franchise. This show has a very specific recycled formula. I’m happy to report that the second season mixed things up a little more. It got slightly experimental and for that reason, I enjoyed it more than the first season. I also loved the revamped Peachfuzz mask. I’m partial to an electric blue. Having said that, I was hoping (once again), that our villain’s backstory would be explored, but it never quite got there. At this stage, it has been renewed for a third instalment. I would love to see some depth moving forward and more out-of-the-box episode ideas.
RANKING THE CREEP TAPES – SEASON 2
1.) Mark
Mark wakes up chained to another man in a dilapidated room and is forced to solve a series of puzzles.
Mark was my favourite episode of season 2. It was Saw meets Dexter. Two of my favourite things! It was campy and ridiculous but a lot of fun. I’m always going to appreciate fan-service surrounding my special interests.
2.) Joseph
A copycat killer going by the name of Joseph meets his match.
David Dastmalchian is a special guest in this episode and he is one of my favourite male actors. Need I say more? I think a copycat killer was a great idea for the show and a solid way to kick off season 2. You could see how much fun Mark Duplass was having in this one.
3.) Wes
Wes takes a job shooting a TV pilot for a house flipping show hosted by a bizarre man.
This episode got better as it went along. At first I was sceptical, but seeing Joseph try and worm his way out of being arrested was incredibly entertaining. He was so over-the-top in this one. I loved it. It was also quite gory. Trigger warning for lots of blood and bodily fluids.
4.) Nick
Nick is confronted by his therapist’s odd behaviour during an emergency therapy session on Christmas Eve.
Nick was just plain nuts! I was very entertained but also aware of how unrealistic the situation was. Nobody in their right mind would stay in that house for longer than five minutes! The ending made me cackle.
5.) Ava
Ava’s quest to make a salacious documentary is foiled by her deeply uncomfortable subject.
I did not connect with Ava at all. It was far too bizarre, with a wildly anticlimactic ending. I’m not sure what Mark Duplass was thinking here.
6.) Angela
A visit from an estranged family member goes haywire.
Last, but not least, we have Angela. This is the worst Creep Tapes episode across both seasons. It was unecessarily vulgar and downright irritating. The female lead made me want to tear my hair out. She was so obnoxious. The entire time I was just waiting for Joseph to put an end to her. I don’t understand the incestuous angle they were going for. It could’ve explored his backstory but instead, created the visual experience of nails down a chalkboard. I hated it.
Thank you so much for reading! How would you rank The Creep Tapes: Season 2?
Peace & Love xoxo
