My Makeup Journey Part 7: Mascara

Hi all!

Today I am discussing Mascara. This is a series on my blog titled: My Makeup Journey. Click here to follow along. I want to share everything I have learned, so without further ado, let’s get into it!

PART 7: MASCARA

Here are my lashes before mascara application.

The first thing you want to do is use an eyelash curler. You can find one in any chemist or regular department store. I have hardly any lashes, so I desperately need this handy tool. Simply position them between the opening and clamp down. Keep it that way for several seconds before releasing. You can even slightly lift your lashes upwards, whilst clamping down, to elongate them further.

With both lashes curled, it’s time to apply your mascara.

I use Lash Sensational by Maybelline. It has a curved head to assist application. If you’re a beginner, I recommend getting the same one. Make sure the wand isn’t slathered in product. One dunk should do it. Take the brush to the base of your lashes and flick upward. You can also do your lower lashes but personally, I don’t like that look on me. Clear any excess product from around the eyes. Sometimes, after blinking, it can smear.

I’ll let you in on a little secret. After I’ve applied my lashes once, I recurl them. Do the first step all over again, but this time, enjoy how much longer and prominent they look. Clock the difference between the first image to now.

As an added tip, you can finish your lashes with some brow gel. I use the one from e.l.f. The gel will stiffen the hairs, keeping them curled for longer.

At this stage, I am not going to continue this series, as I genuinely find it difficult regarding my disability. Maybe somewhere down the line, I’ll tackle eyeliner, eyeshadow and lips.

Thanks for reading! Peace & Love xoxo
