Testing Out ‘Funky Fields’ 100% Plant Based Mince – Product Review!

Hi all!

Today I am going to be sharing my review of the ‘Funky Fields’ 100% Plant Based Mince. I will also provide a simple vegan ‘meatball’ recipe, should you choose to try it.

This revolutionary product was recently released in Australia state-wide, selling super fast. It took a while to get my hands on a packet! This item is stored in the actual meat section of Woolworth’s supermarkets. It is extremely versatile and very easy to cook. The first time I bought it, I whipped up a quick spaghetti bolognese. The resemblance to real meat blew my mind! Not only is it packed with iron, the colour is derived from beetroot, the fat from coconut, the texture from soy/wheat protein and the taste from almonds, porcini mushrooms and tomato. It is so delicious. The only downside is the price. Being a specialty vegan item, it is quite expensive, making it more of an occasional treat in our household. You can use it for pizza, lasagna, burger patties and more. I, for one, think it’s a wonderful and realistic alternative to meat. I hope it inspires consumers to make more ethical choices.

SIMPLE VEGAN ‘MEATBALL’ RECIPE

1.) Unwrap package and transfer mince to a medium-sized bowl.

2.) Add 1 tbs of minced garlic and 1 tbs of preferred spices to the mix. Massage through. For my dish, I used dried oregano.

3.) Once thoroughly combined, make golf ball sized portions, by rolling the mince in your hands and placing them in a frying pan. You should be able to make about 12-16 ‘meatballs.’

4.) Heat oil in pan and cook on medium to high heat, for about ten minutes. They should start to crisp up slightly.

5.) Add them to your pasta, with sauce of choice and you’re done! Enjoy!

I am a huge fan of this product. The ‘meatballs’ taste so authentic and yummy. I hope that it continues to sell. With enough supply and demand, we may see prices drop. Let me know if you try this recipe. Feel free to provide alternatives in the comments. I hope you enjoyed this post. Thank you for reading.

Peace & Love xoxo
