Hi all!
Today I am going to be reviewing five new vegan frozen food products, that recently came to our local supermarket. For those of you that don’t know, I live in Melbourne. Our local supermarket is Woolworths and lately, the vegan products have been hitting the shelves hard and fast. I love how much variety there is at our fingertips now. Let’s get into it!
1.) ‘Bean Supreme’ – Laksa Pie

This Laksa Pie contains pumpkin, coconut, tamarind, plus a whole host of spices, to create a South-East Asian inspired curry pastry. It takes 40 minutes to cook in a conventional oven if frozen (less if thawed) and is 100% plant based. I served it with a side salad for lunch and loved it. It was so delicious, chunky, rich and full of flavour. Even the crust was super tasty! For some reason I thought I would dislike it, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover it was so yummy. It seems small but the pie is super filling. The pastry is flaky and delicious. They also sell a Mexican pie but I didn’t like it as much as this one. I gave it 5/5 stars.

2.) ‘Fry’s’ Chickpea and Roasted Butternut Balls

I wasn’t really a fan of these. I don’t know what it was but they tasted a little bland. The flavours just didn’t work for me, so I won’t be buying them again. On the plus side, I do believe they are good for parties, only taking 10-15 minutes in the oven. My daughter enjoyed nibbling on them but I would only eat them again if accompanied by a strong dipping sauce. I gave it 2/5 stars.

3.) ‘Fry’s’ Mini Sausage Rolls

All hail the mini sausage rolls! They are so perfect for a party! You just pop these in the oven for 15 minutes and you’re good to go! I tried them with some tomato sauce and they were super yummy. They taste so authentic to regular sausage rolls and the pastry is fluffy, as promised on the package. I didn’t take the most flattering photo but just know, it tastes so much better than it looks! I gave it 5/5 stars.

4.) ‘Sophie’s Kitchen’ Lightly Battered Prawns

I was not a fan of this one. The texture and look were on point (it even had the red prawn lines on the skin) but the taste was bland. It needs to be cooked in oil, in order to crisp it up. The back of the box recommends coconut oil. I used olive oil and it made me feel a bit ill. I definitely won’t be buying these again. It’s great they exist and I’m sure someone else might enjoy them, but they didn’t do it for me. I gave them 1/5 stars.

5.) ‘Temptation Bakeries’ Petite Vegetable Tarts

These are fantastic for a party! I would definitely get them in future, for any events we host. They are mini, tasty and fun. I will say, the first time I tried them, I wasn’t a fan, but they grew on me. I only tried cooking them in the microwave, so I’m sure they will taste much better in the oven. The pastry is delicious and the veggies, full of flavour. I give them 3.5/5 stars.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Which product sounded the nicest to you? I liked the pie and sausage rolls the best. Thanks for reading!
Peace & Love xoxo
