An Australian Tries American Vegan Halloween Candy!

Hi all!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Today is a special post to celebrate Halloween! This holiday isn’t as big in Australia, as it is in America, but it’s still my favourite time of year. I am going to be taste-testing vegan Halloween candy from America and providing my honest thoughts. I have never tried any of these before, but they are all confirmed vegan (see list)I was able to find all of them at a local candy store, that also stocks American products. Without further ado, let’s get tasting!

1 – SWEDISH FISH

For so long, I was like: ‘what the heck is a Swedish Fish?It has such a strange name! I certainly didn’t think it was candy. Having said all that, they were so delicious and chewy! They reminded me of the red frog lollies, we have here in Australia. I am a big fan of the assorted flavours. I could definitely see Abi having these as a treat, every now and then. I gave them 4.5/5 stars.

2 – LAFFY TAFFY (GRAPE)

Delicious! My husband and I both enjoyed this treat! It tasted exactly like Hubba Bubba Bubblegum. Who doesn’t love grape flavoured candy? I was always curious about what taffy was. It turns out, it’s a type of candy, made by stretching or pulling a sticky mass of boiled sugar, until it becomes aerated. It was super soft and chewy. I gave it 5/5 stars. Would definitely eat again!

3 – WONKA’S BOTTLE CAPS

I don’t think I’ve ever gone wrong with a Wonka product. These bottle caps come in five different flavours: Cola, Cherry, Grape, Orange and Root Beer. They are tiny, but packed full of flavour! They are almost sherbet like. I definitely preferred some flavours over others but overall, a really fun, bite-sized treat. I gave them 4/5 stars.

4 – TWIZZLERS

Twizzlers are a famous American candy. I was pretty excited to try it, but unfortunately, it was really gross. Both my husband and I could barely finish our pieces. It tasted very bland for something that’s supposed to be strawberry flavoured. It had such an unusual taste, almost like it wasn’t sweetened at all. We are not going to pick this up again. I gave it 1/5 stars.

5 – FRY’S PEPPERMINT CREAM

I had to try some American vegan chocolate, so I went for Fry’s Peppermint Cream. This was so delicious and not too strong for a dark chocolate. I love choc-peppermint. This little bar is perfect to satisfy those cravings from time to time. I would definitely eat it again. I gave it 5/5 stars.

I hope you enjoyed this post! My favourite was definitely the Laffy Taffy and my least favourite, the Twizzlers. All of the candy we didn’t eat, is going to be given to our trick or treater’s this evening. Have a safe and happy Halloween! Thanks for reading!

Peace & Love xoxo

  1. This is such a lovely round up of vegan candy! I tried Swedish fish, didn’t like it and felt it was too bland. I also didn’t like Twizzlers, juts too hard for my liking. I did like Laffy Taffy and love Fry’s chocolate! I do like their Chocolate and Orange cream too. So delicious 🙂

    1. Thank you my friend! I’m glad you’ve tried the candy too 🙂
