Blogmas – ‘Let It Snow’ Film Review!

Hi all!

Today I am going to be reviewing Let It Snow, which came to streaming in November. This is based off the book written by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. I recently watched the Netflix adaptation and wish to share all my thoughts and feelings on it. Let’s get into it!

The movie takes place on Christmas Eve, following three separate characters, that are all connected with one another. We have Julie Reyes, who meets pop star, Stuart Bale, on the train. Dorrie and her best friend Addie, who are arguing and Tobin, who is wrestling with the decision on whether or not to reveal his true feelings toward his best friend, Angie. In this film, there is a recurring theme of snow bringing everybody together. The snow stops the train, forcing Julie and Stuart to meet. The snow prevents Addie from getting to the Waffle House, where Dorrie works. The snow causes Tobin’s car to get stuck in a ditch, which results in him and Angie spending quality time. By the end, all the characters end up at the Waffle House, where a big party is thrown and everybody counts down to Christmas Day. Oh, and there is a plenty of drama along the way!

Seeing as I only read the John Green story (Tobin and Angie’s), I cannot confirm if the rest sticks to true to the book or not. However, I don’t think that matters. For the most part, I found it really enjoyable. It was a really cute, feel-good Christmas story, with many happy endings. I did find some stories more interesting than others. I definitely enjoyed Tobin and Angie’s the best. I really liked the character of Dorrie, but I felt she deserved better. Addie was super cute, however, Joan Cusack’s character seemed a bit unnecessary. That was just my opinion though. I felt Julie’s story was the most touching. Worried about her sick mother, Julie doesn’t want to go away to college, because she feels it’s her responsibility to take care of her. Stuart was such a sweet and humble guy. The pair definitely had real chemistry. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments and tender scenes, that brought a tear to the eye. If you’re a fan of Love Actually, I think you would enjoy this movie.

I gave it 4/5 stars. It was a lot of fun, super sweet and definitely a film that will get you into the Christmas spirit. Also, the soundtrack was fantastic.

Let me know if you’ve seen Let It Snow and what you thought of it. Have you read the book? Thanks for reading!

Peace & Love xoxo
