Blogmas – My 5 Favourite Christmas Movies!

Hi all!

Today I am going to be sharing my 5 favourite Christmas movies of all time! There are so many that I love, but I had to narrow it down for the post. Let’s get into it!

1.) The Nightmare Before Christmas

My absolute favourite Christmas movie is Tim Burton’s: The Nightmare Before Christmas. I love all the songs, the characters, the artwork and more. You don’t have to be a child to love this film. Anybody can enjoy it. There is a ongoing debate about whether this is more of a Halloween or Christmas movie. I believe it’s more of a Christmas film, because the characters live in Halloween Town all year long, but the actual plot, revolves around Christmas time. I’m proud to announce that I can recite all the words to ‘This is Halloween.’ If you have never watched it, now is the time to do so. It will touch your heart.

2.) Home Alone

Home Alone is a classic and one I loved growing up. Which kid didn’t wish they could booby-trap their house like Kevin McCallister? This movie is so much fun. It spreads the message that Christmas isn’t the same, without your family celebrating alongside you. I love the second Home Alone film but nothing beats the first one, in my opinion. Keep the change ya filthy animal!

3.) Love Actually

Love Actually hits me in all the feels, no matter how many times I watch it. This film follows many different story-lines, that all intertwine and lead up to Christmas Day. Each story shows how love can be expressed in different ways. It is so heart-warming, laugh-out-loud funny and touching. It’s absolutely iconic and still so popular to this day. Also, the soundtrack is 10/10!

4.)  The Santa Clause

I have to mention The Santa Clause, because this was another film I adored growing up. I used to watch it on loop as a kid. It follows Scott Calvin, a successful toy salesmen, who finds himself becoming the next Santa, after the real one falls off his roof trying to deliver presents. Scott fights between wanting to be a hero for his son, but also embracing his new, very important role in the world. I cannot help but feel happy when I watch this movie. I wasn’t a huge fan of the sequels sadly.

5.) The Holiday

Last but not least, we have The Holiday. This film makes me want to cuddle up on the couch with a cozy blanket, fuzzy socks and a hot beverage. It follows two women desperate for a change in their lives, after facing serious heartache. They decide to swap homes (London and California) during Christmas to see what adventures they can find. In a completely new country, both women find meaning and love in their lives. It’s such a beautiful and romantic story. It will definitely get you in the seasonal mood.

I hope you liked my list! What is your favourite Christmas movie? Thanks for reading!

Peace & Love xoxo

  1. A great list and I like all of those. Every year, however, there are two films I try not to miss – “It’s a Wonderful Life” (though after having seen it so many times now, I’m really only interested in the last 45 minutes, from life without George on) and “Scrooged” with Bill Murray.

    1. Thanks Em! I love ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ too! It nearly made my list 🙂 I haven’t seen Scrooged but I’ll have to check it out as I’m a huge Bill Murray fan!

      1. It’s totally worth it. Big laughs and big feels.

  2. […] Yes, you can watch Home Alone any time of the year, but watching it during December makes it extra special. Christmas specials are usually added to Netflix in late November and festive flicks are played on television the entire duration of the holiday season.
