Hi all!

Today I am going to do The Halloween Tag! I sourced the questions from Madame Writer. There are 30 to get through, so let’s not delay!

1.) What is your favourite Halloween/Horror song? 

This is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas! I know every single line. It literally welcomes the beginning of spooky season. I highly recommend playing it October 1st, to set the mood. The opening beat fills me with so much joy.

2.) What is something you wouldn’t want to run into, in an abandoned building or dark forest?

I wouldn’t want to run into a wild beast that could easily outpace and overpower me.

3.) Have you ever played with a Ouija Board? 

My sister and I played with a makeshift one when we were children. I remember using a deodorant cap as our moving token. I wish I had a super, spooky story to tell you but nothing happened.

4.) Who is your favourite horror monster/villain? 

My favourite horror villain is Pennywise. Recently, @coachscorner1919 on Instagram, summed up why he believes our lovable clown is the greatest:

Pennywise is the greatest King villain for a number of reasons: he is a shape shifting entity that is not required to adhere to the rules of reality. Not only does he eat children, his favorite form is that of a clown. Everyone hates clowns. The opening scene of the book with him and Georgie is one of the greatest/scariest scenes ever. It reaches out, grabs you and doesn’t let go until the end. I loved how the monster’s ego ultimately led to it calling the Losers back for revenge. A lot of King’s baddies tend to be put down rather easily. This one took several attempts, claimed lives of his own and ultimately had his heart crushed and ripped out to finally be defeated. Pennywise is hands down King’s greatest villain. “I think what was here before is still here… the thing that has shown up every twenty-seven years or so. Sometimes it comes a little sooner, sometimes a little later… but it always comes…It always comes back, you see.”

5.) What is the creepiest thing that’s ever happened while you were alone? 

When I was 18, I was dating somebody who lived in a bonafide haunted house. At night, we could hear somebody running up and down the halls, but whenever we opened the door, nobody was there. 

6.) If you were dared to spend the night in a “haunted house” would you do it?

As mentioned above, my ex boyfriend’s home was haunted, so I have spent several nights in one.

7.) Are you superstitious? 

Not as much as I used to be, but there are some things I would never do; like open an umbrella indoors or walk under a ladder.

8.) Do you ever see figures in your peripheral vision? 

I have before, but it’s always when my senses are on overdrive; usually after I’ve watched a horror film.

9.) Which urban legend scares you the most? 

Bloody Mary still gives me the creeps. You’ll never catch me saying her name three times in front of a mirror!

10.) Do you prefer gore or thrillers? 

I prefer thrillers, but only a little bit more than gore. They are both fantastic if done well.

11.) Do you believe in multiple dimensions or worlds? 

I would like to believe there are multiple dimensions out there, but it’s such a complex thing, my brain couldn’t possibly fathom it.

12.) Ever made a potion of any sort? 

I’m sure I did as a child, but I cannot recall any specifics.

13.) Do you get scared easily? 

There is a big misconception that horror lovers are immune to getting scared. Not true! I get scared very easily, but I keep going back for more.

14.) Have you ever played Bloody Mary?

15.) Do you believe in demons/the devil?

No, but I strongly believe in Jean-Paul Sartre’s iconic quote: hell is other people. 

16.) You’re home alone but you hear footsteps in your house. What do you do?

Try to find out the source of the footsteps, without being seen or heard. Once I know what I’m up against, run!

17.) If you got trapped in one scary movie, which one would you choose? 

None of them are particularly pleasant, but I would say IT, so I can band with my fellow Losers and take down the infamous clown!

18.) If you could only wear one Halloween costume for the rest of your life, what would it be? 

There are too many to choose from! If it was for the rest of my life though, it would need to be comfortable. Maybe Samara from The Ring, because I can just wear a plain white dress. I don’t even need to brush my hair!

19.) Would you ever go to a graveyard at night?

I would and I have! It’s a really humbling experience.

20.) In a zombie apocalypse, what is your weapon of choice? 

Do not use any weapon that requires close-combat, because you risk getting eaten/infected. Range all the way! I would go with a classic Daryl from The Walking Dead crossbow.

21.) Would you rather go to a Halloween party or trick-or-treating? 

A Halloween party would be so much fun!

22.) You’re in a horror movie. Are you the first to die? The final girl standing? The comic relief? The skeptic? The smart one? The killer?

I would love to be a final girl, but if I’m being honest, I would either be the comic relief or first to die.

23.) Do you have to watch something happy after watching a horror movie to help you sleep? 

Horror movies make me happy. They help me sleep. 

24.) Whilst watching scary movies, are you the person yelling at the characters, the person with their eyes covered or the person who falls asleep? 

I’m the one making sarcastic comments the entire time; clapping/laughing when someone is brutally murdered. I also say “oh that’s creepy’”a lot.

25.) Are you the one who gets scared, or the one who does the scaring? 

I am the one who gets scared – hands down.

26.) What is your favourite scary book?

IT by Stephen King. 

27.) How old were you when you saw your first horror movie?

I was 12 when I watched The Sixth Sense at Year 7 camp. It scared the crap out of me!

28.) What was your first Halloween costume? 

I think I dressed up as a witch for a Halloween event at my local library.

29.) What are you going to be for Halloween this year? 

Due to COVID, nothing. However, if I could, it would be Pennywise. 

30.) If you could have a spooky pet (black cat, owl, bat, rat, wolf), what would you pick? 

I would have an owl, because they’re so cute.
