Hi all!
Today I am going to be sharing a brief, but basic guide to the Enneagram. This is a geometric model of the human psyche, which features nine interconnected personality types. A simple online test will help identify which category you fall under. The purpose of the Enneagram is not to put you into a box, but rather to help highlight your strengths and limitations. Once you gain a deeper emotional understanding of how you operate, you can navigate interpersonal relationships with more clarity. Without further ado, let’s begin!
Click here to take a free online test. The team at Personality Path reached out to me, suggesting their website on this post. It’s a really great test, with lots of excellent feedback.
The nine personality types are as follows:
1 – The Perfectionist – Ethical, Reliable Wise
2 – The Giver – Loving, Compassionate, Adaptable
3 – The Achiever – Optimistic, Industrious, Efficient
4 – The Individualist – Authentic, Warm, Creative
5 – The Investigator – Analytical, Sensitive, Objective
6 – The Skeptic – Loyal, Likable, Practical
7 – The Enthusiast – Confident, Charming, Spontaneous
8 – The Challenger – Inspiring, Resilient, Direct
9 – The Peacemaker – Patient, Pleasant, Caring
A really good piece of advice I read online said: ‘in order to learn your type, you should familiarise yourself with all nine.’
If you’re curious, I am Type 4 – The Individualist. Fours are self-aware, sensitive and reserved. They are emotionally honest, creative and personal, but can also be moody and self-conscious. They yearn to constantly express themselves and their individuality. Their biggest fear is being like everybody else. I am without a doubt, a Type 4. I strive to be different, spending a lot of time coming up with new ways to express myself creatively. I am deeply sensitive, introverted and an overthinker. I don’t feel connected to any of the other types, quite like this one.
Like the Myers Briggs test, use the Enneagram to learn more about yourself and others. It is just another layer to what makes you, you. On the other hand, you may not connect with your type at all, which is perfectly fine.
Lastly, I want to share this super fun Instagram page for the Disney lovers out there.
Thank you for reading this short, yet hopefully informative post for Enneagram newbies. Please let me know your type. Do you identify with it?
Peace & Love xoxo
