Hi all!

I am so thrilled to finally announce my project for 2024! I am going to provide readers with a Haunted Guide to Maryborough. Ghosthunters have dubbed Maryborough the most haunted town in Australia. Luckily for me – a horror-loving queen – I happen to live nearby. It was first settled in 1847, making it one of the oldest cities in the state of Queensland. A place that old must be saturated with spirits, no? Well, I’m here to find out. My project will aim to answer the question: is Maryborough really haunted? Without further ado, let’s get into it!

1.) How Will The Project Work? 

I will be publishing posts on this website, digging deep into the most haunted locations in Maryborough. Not only will I be interviewing certain individuals, I will also be partaking in multiple supernatural events. Think ghost tours, cemetery tours, an overnight stay at a haunted hotel, a seance in a haunted doll museum and more. Everything will be thoroughly researched. I’m not going to just stand on the sidelines, I’m going to experience the paranormal for myself. The most important thing I will be taking into this project is an open mind.

2.) Will It Interfere With Your Day Job? 

This project is purely personal and does not involve my job whatsoever. As for the project itself, it will be conducted entirely outside of working hours.

3.) Which Locations Will You Be Covering?

At this stage, I will be focusing on The Haunted Doll Museum, The Maryborough Cemetary and The Criterion Hotel.

4.) Will You Be Using Paranormal Equipment? 

This month, I will be attending a ghost tour with experienced paranormal investigators. We will be using spirit-tracking equipment during the event. Regarding the rest, I would have to purchase my own equipment and learn how to use it. I’m still undecided on whether I want to do that or not. 

5.) Aren’t You Scared? 

I’m much more excited than scared. My passion for horror has desensitised me over the years. I wouldn’t undertake something like this if I hadn’t considered what I could possibly encounter. 

6.) What If You Don’t Experience Anything Spooky? 

If I don’t, that is absolutely fine! I will have had a fun, ghost-hunting adventure. Regardless of the outcome, this project has already brought me so much joy and I have barely begun!

7.) Is This Project For Tourism Promotion? 

No. If my posts happen to give viewers incentive to visit – wonderful! However, that is not what I’m aiming for. For some, the spookier the experiences, the less inviting Maryborough could appear.

8.) How Will You Remain Respectful To The History Of The Town & Its Peoples? 

As mentioned above, this project will be thoroughly researched. I am not going to make anything up for views or clicks. I am going to interview people and respect their wishes. Their stories will not be embellished in any way, shape or form. They will also be credited and must give their consent prior to posting.

9.) What Could Potentially Go Wrong? 

Demonic possession? But in all seriousness, I don’t anticipate any major roadblocks. If I’m not permitted to enter a certain area, or speak to a certain individual, I will direct my attention elsewhere.

10.) Will It Be Expensive? 

Not overly, but I will have to spend money to take part in the tours mentioned above.
