The Ultimate Reading Challenge #20 – Read A Bookseller’s Recommendation!

Hi all!

Welcome back to The Ultimate Reading Challenge! I outlined in 2022 how the new series will work here, so check that out before progressing further. For my 20th challenge, I read a bookseller’s recommendation. You can find a whole list of them on the Dymocks website. Today I am sharing my thoughts on Happy Place by Emily Henry, plus my prize for completing the prompt. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

Plot: ‘Happy Place’ by Emily Henry:

A couple who broke up months ago, make a pact to pretend to still be together for their annual weeklong vacation with their best friends. After years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week…in front of those who know you best?

Review: ‘Happy Place’ by Emily Henry:

I don’t think any number of words can truly express how this book made me feel. I had such a raw and emotional reading experience. It took me completely by surprise. Straight afterwards, I bought Emily Henry’s entire set of works. Without spoiling anything, this isn’t your typical rom-com. It tackles the power of female friendships, disconnected family relationships and anxious-avoidant patterns when it comes to love. I saw so much of myself in the lead character of Harriet. It forced me to confront some difficult truths about my own behaviour and who I want to be moving forward in life. I cried an embarrassing amount; my face glued to the tear-stained pages. I cannot imagine any of her other novels topping this one. It’s an instant favourite for the year.

Prize For Completing The Challenge:

My prize for completing the prompt was a bookish koozie. It’s made out of cardboard with colourful, reading related images. To be honest, it’s my least favourite item I’ve received so far. It’s too flimsy to use.

Thank you so much for reading! I will see you next month for a new bookish challenge!

Peace & Love xoxo
