Hi all!
Today I am reviewing horror movie: Oddity. After the brutal murder of her twin sister, Darcy goes after those responsible by using haunted items as tools for revenge. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
WHAT WORKED:
The best part of Oddity was the horror itself. It was very scary. There was a scene that made me jump a mile high! Furthermore, I liked the twists and turns the film took and how the story was told. We weren’t spoon-fed the information. It was delivered naturally and at the right time. Irish horror movies have a real dark energy to them I truly enjoy. The acting was excellent, especially from the lead, who played two different roles. It had an unexpected but fun ending. I love a revenge-driven narrative.
WHAT DIDN’T WORK:
There are two issues I had with this film. 1.) There were far too many slow-paced moments. I appreciate tension building scenes, just not when it disrupts the momentum. 2.) I wish we had more of the Oddity store itself. I was surprised that we hardly spent any time there. It felt like a huge missed opportunity. I am such a fan of cursed objects, so the significant lack of them was frustrating.
OVERALL STAR RATING:
I gave it 3.5/5 stars. Overall, it’s a very solid horror movie.
Thank you so much for reading! Have you seen Oddity?
Peace & Love xoxo
