Hi all!
Today I am reviewing new-release, horror: 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. It hit cinemas this month, allowing me the opportunity of seeing it on the big screen. Dr. Kelson finds himself in a shocking new relationship, with consequences that could change the world as he knows it. Meanwhile, Spike’s encounter with Jimmy Crystal becomes a nightmare he can’t escape. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

WHAT WORKED:
I loved the sequel even more than the original. It highlighted the two best characters in the franchise: Dr. Kelson and Jimmy Crystal – featuring both of them in spades. There were some formidable needle drops in The Bone Temple; highlighting the breadth and depth of Ralph Fiennes’ acting. I am convinced he can do anything. What was even more impressive was the gore. This movie is BRUTAL. If you thought 28 Years Later was gruesome, you ain’t seen nothing yet. I felt physically uncomfortable during certain scenes. I also appreciated the way the film tackled religion vs. science. In a world gone to hell, it’s difficult to know what to believe in. Finally, the twist at the end genuinely got me. I didn’t see it coming. It has me so excited for the third and final chapter.
WHAT DIDN’T WORK:
The first film is definitely more adventurous and expansive. The sequel is more stagnant. It sticks to the same few places; particularly, The Bone Temple. Furthermore, this movie is the bridge between the beginning and the end. You may see it as ‘filler’ – it’s anything but. I cannot fault it.
OVERALL STAR RATING:
I gave it 4.5/5 stars. What a great start to the year!
Have you seen 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple? What did you think of it?
