Cold Storage – New Release Horror Movie Review!

Hi all!

Today I am reviewing new-release, horror: Cold Storage. It hit cinemas this month, allowing me the opportunity of seeing it on the big screen. Two employees at a self-storage company have the wildest shift of their lives, when a parasitic fungus that was sealed by the government escapes. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

WHAT WORKED:

If you want a fun take on a zombified, parasitic virus, Cold Storage is for you. I really enjoyed the action/adventure elements in this film. It had a little bit of everything. I also liked the chemistry between the two leads, Travis and Naomi. I bought their moments of flirtation in between the horror. Despite the lighthearted tone of the movie, there was plenty of gore, bodily fluids, jump scares and tension. It was all balanced so well. The humour worked, as did the CGI (funnily enough). Normally, I prefer practical effects but with something as campy as this, it made sense. I recommend checking it out.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK:

I don’t have many negative critiques for this film. If I had to nitpick, the pacing felt a little off. There are some movies that have no discernible middle and third act. Cold Storage is one of them. All of a sudden, the credits were rolling and I was wondering how we got there. Also, for those that didn’t know, this was adapted from a book by the same name. In the novel, Liam Neeson’s character is Hispanic. His casting has caused some controversy, given he is not of that particular race.

OVERALL STAR RATING:

I gave it 4/5 stars. A fun, enjoyable film.

Have you seen Cold StorageWhat did you think of it?

Peace & Love xoxo
