Hi all!
Today I am reviewing new-release, horror: Send Help. It hit cinemas this month, allowing me the opportunity of seeing it on the big screen. A woman and her overbearing boss become stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. They must overcome past grievances and work together in order to survive. However, it’s a battle of wills and wits to make it out alive. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

WHAT WORKED:
Send Help gave me Misery meets Castaway. Sam Raimi did not disappoint. He gave us his signature gore, violence, manic comedy and a cheeky nod to a Deadite (blink and you’ll miss it). The strongest aspect of the film was Rachel McAdams’ performance. She was incredible. I bought every word she said. Dylan O’Brien was excellent too but Linda Liddle may just be this generation’s Annie Wilkes. There was such a fun devolvement into madness throughout the movie that had me laughing one moment and gripping my seat the next. I love a revenge story full of power plays. Furthermore, the tropical island served as a gorgeous backdrop that had even me convinced it wasn’t the worst place to get stranded. Fans of Survivor, Evil Dead and Mean Girls: this is your lucky day!
WHAT DIDN’T WORK:
In my opinion, there were some scenes that lagged. I do think it could’ve used tighter editing here and there. I also didn’t have the best cinema experience. I had to see it 3D because the regular sessions were at ridiculous hours. Because of that, some of the visuals were blurry and the audio was crackling. It took away some of my enjoyment – not the movie’s fault! Finally, without spoiling anything, I didn’t love the twist ending. I felt it cheapened Linda’s capabilities somewhat.
OVERALL STAR RATING:
I gave it 4.5/5 stars. This is one you won’t want to miss!
Have you seen Send Help? What did you think of it?
Peace & Love xoxo
