Hi all!
Today I am sharing everything I plan on watching for Found Footage February. I wanted to dedicate one month to a horror sub-genre I love. I haven’t seen any of these films, but I’m really excited to check them out. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
Update: Check out my wrap-up here!
1.) Noroi: The Curse
This 2017 mockumentary follows paranormal investigator, Masafumi Kobayashi, as he investigates several supernatural occurrences relating to a mother and her son. He discovers a curse that threatens to take over the entire population of Japan. This film has been on my to-watch list for the longest time. I just know I am going to love it. It has all the makings of my kind of horror. I cannot wait to check it out!
2.) The Tunnel
I had to add The Tunnel to my list after learning it’s Australian. Set in an underground network of abandoned railway tunnels in Sydney, this documentary-style horror follows a journalist and her crew, as they discover a flesh-eating creature within the confines of the darkness. I’m excited to see if it’s as excellent as it sounds.
3.) Troll Hunter
From 2010, Troll Hunter follows a group of students, who investigate a series of mysterious bear killings. In the process, they learn there are much more dangerous things going on. I’m expecting this found footage film to be a mix of horror and camp. Either way, it has great reviews and looks like a good time.
4.) Blair Witch (2016)
I’ve only seen The Blair Witch Project from 1999, not the 2016 remake. It’s apparently a direct sequel to the original film; completely ignoring the events from Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. In this follow-up, a group of college students and their local guides venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland, to uncover the mysteries surrounding the prior disappearance of Heather Donahue – the sister of one of the characters. I have a feeling it’s going to disappoint but I still want to watch it.
5.) Butterfly Kisses
Last, but certainly not least, we have Butterfly Kisses from 2018. It follows a filmmaker named Gavin York, who discovers a box of videotapes depicting a disturbing project by film students about an urban legend known as Peeping Tom. As he sets out to prove the footage is real, he becomes obsessed, along with the film crew following him. I’ve heard this movie is very underrated and worth a watch.
Thank you so much for reading! Feel free to also participate in Found Footage February!
Peace & Love xoxo
